Hi, I'm Katie Hemphill
From Biomedical Engineering (B.S.E., M.S.) to Mind/Body/Earth Coaching, it is my devotion to the health of this world that drives me as I explore the many perspectives that allow us to understand, and to heal, the challenges facing living beings.
With ForestBody, I created what I know to be the next level holistic system for working through health challenges: physically and mentally, as well as emotionally and spiritually.
By combining the perspectives I’ve been honored to study (Biomedical Engineering, Metabolic Health & Nutrition, Yoga Therapy) and combining it with my intuitive understanding of the power of Nature to heal, to grow, to nurture, and to expand, our work together gets to center on healing in a truly holistic, and even collective manner.
Today, I bring you ForestBody as a truly holistic perspective and approach to health of the whole web of life on Planet Earth. One that is grounded in what matters most for humanity, for the ecosystems we exist in, and one that enables us to honor, respect, and call upon all of the tools and practices that can help support our own healing.
An approach that weaves science and spirituality together, because this is the only way we can be attuned to all that is at play: Within our own bodies, and out in the world around us.
Grounding it all in through conscious, embodied practice, centering ourselves in the present moment for all that is here; opening to the future, discerning our way to the next brightest version of it all.
It began as a path of biomedical science and technology, and transformed into my ability to guide you in your own ability to know self, to heal self, to express as self, and to transform self:
Traditionally trained as a Biomedical Engineer (B.S.E., M.S.,), I once believed that science and engineering was my path to best understanding this world, and about doing something to help heal the great problems alive in our world. I learned much from this space, but in the decade spent as a student, researcher, and corporate engineer, I couldn't help but become attuned to the great harm that was being perpetuated while holding health within the systems currently at play (namely, the overly masculine structures embedded in capitalism).
While I could see clearly the value in knowledge and technology to help support our healing, I increasingly came face to face with the clear understanding that their use to further disembody us is, itself, part of the disease, and that if we want to find ourselves in a world that is truly healthy - for self, for humanity, and for nature - then we need an entirely different approach to it all:
- One that heals our relationship with our bodies - yes through all those foundational, as well as fancy techniques taught in health & wellness - but more than this through direct, conscious, loving connection with our bodies
- This includes relationship to self, including mind and body, as well as our emotions, and the whole of our being
- One that helps us to understand our relationship with our ecosystems, the space from which our food comes from, our air comes from, and is also connected in ways our minds do not yet comprehend
- This includes the intention to improve our relationship to nature for our own health, AND this also includes our nonselfish, innate desire to help our planet thrive for the sake of its own thriving
