The Embodied Path is a practice-centered spiritual framework that offers you guidance on your path through the healing and awakening that you are ready for. If you are here, I can assume that you are ready - that you have read up on the fundamentals and are ready to jump into practice!
At this time, this page offers a series of blog posts and podcast episodes centered on this practice-centered path.
When it comes to embodiment practice, the honest truth is that your options are endless. Taking a look at the traditional practices that make up yoga, mindfulness meditation, Qi Gong, and other embodiment-based spiritualties, we are already accumulating what seems like an infinitely long set of practices from which we could work to cultivate skill and those internal states we are seeking.
To add to this, what I teach is that embodiment unfolds through life's playgrounds. No matter where you are and what you are doing, you can be practicing your embodiment (for example, trail running is my favorite space to practice grounding, discernment, alignment, and to experience inner stillness and clarity).
The point is, there are endless practices I could point you to on this page, but in offering endless opportunities I would not be serving you to get to where you best be going; but instead, be overwhelming you with choice.
Therefore, this page is laid out so that you can try some of the most powerful practices I know, and from this space, open to options that may speak to your next best steps.
Get Started with the introduction and overview: of The 11 Embodiment Practices that Form the Foundation of Your Healing and Awakening
Practice #1 - A Practice in Physical Stillness
Practice:
Take a moment to settle into a comfortable seated position –
Cross-legged, or with your feet on the floor – it doesn’t matter.
What matters is that you find a seated, upright position that feels comfortable.
Set a timer. Perhaps for a minute, or 5 minutes.
Choose the allotted time, and press go.
Then, simply, cease all activity
as you sit in stillness.
If need be, focus on your inhale and exhale.
Or, watch your thoughts as they flow in and out.
Give your mind a simple task, if it needs it.
Otherwise, your task is as simple as it gets:
Do nothing, except sit.
Witness what flows through your consciousness.
But do not move.
Got it?
Your task is to do nothing,
except to be witness
until the timer goes off.
Practice #2 - Movement Practice
Practice:
Move your body every day, throughout the day. It doesn’t matter so much what you do, so long as you do, indeed, go move.
Walk. Run. Dance. Bike. Lift. Wander. Swim. Do yoga.
It doesn’t matter so much what you do, as long as you do, indeed, move!
Furthermore, do not just do this as a one-off. Make it a part of your day, throughout your day! Get in the habit of being in motion. Toss your sedentary lifestyle away!
As you move, there is an invitation to release distractions. Let go of external metrics and tech. In their place, turn inward.
Connect consciously with your body.
Move. As you do, go within. Connect with your body as you are in motion:
- Feel into your body - your muscles, bones, and other tissues in motion
- Ground into your body - feeling the support that your body holds (as well as the Earth as she holds you)
- Experience fluidity - breathe in sync with movement and get into the flow of life
Let this experience bring you joy, bring you healing, and bring you into sacred connection with all that you are.
